what does the paint code look like on the plate on the slam panel?? to many number to look at. need to spray up the new wings for the black one and the lower kit of the white one. want to get the 4x colours for both my cars, but would like the names for them, so i can match them up at halfrauds. white = ? beige = ? black = ? dark grey = ? anyone know what these colours are called so i can match them up. looked in thalfrauds today for the white, but only POLAR white, and this dont look the right colour, (too yellowy). mark and steff. |

Right Mark, looking at the above codes, it appears your White car is finished in 147 Arctic White with 7738 Sato Grey lower cladding. Is your Black one solid Black or metallic? If solid it'll be 040 Black, if metallic it'll be 199 Blue-Black. Lower cladding will be 7700 Alto Grey in either case. If no joy at Halfrauds, find your local paintshop supplier or most motor factors computer mix paint up now, either in tins for spray or brush-on or in aerosols. I got a local paintshop supplier to make up my rare (only made for one year) Brown paint when I had my body repair done and the match was cock-on. Edited by AndyBoroFC, Mon Apr 6, 2009 8:51 pm.

I must say lads this site is most enlightening ! I needed my colour code for a few stone chips and just sussed it out from the details above, many thanks to posters. Now another bit of info, How do I know the clour code for the plastic trim on the bottom of the doors and the cills, also are the plastic bumbers and grill paintable ? It's a 1987 light ivory 190 |

It`s one of these three, NO.1611 SINA BEIGE I 623A* I NO.1631 SAFARI BEIGE I 623B/C* I NO.1658 LIGHT IVORY I 623D* I The paint code is stamped on vin plate just above the radiator, match the paint code to one of these three. The bumpers and grille are paintable, many people paint the grille insert, the grille surround can be colour matched to your car, but it`s best to de-chrome it, etch prime it, then paint it, it will last longer than just roughing up the chrome and painting it |

Hi, On the 16v Cladding / Bumpers on a '199' paint code is there another paint code for the ''Satin' please ? or, does anybody know if its just 'Satin 199'' ? Its not a gloss or two part like the main shell that is for sure, it almost looks like its not metallic either ? Any help appreciated. Regards, The Gorilla. |

Yes, you do. Evolutions and Evolution-IIs were indeed 199 Blauschwarz. Rumour has it that 2 were painted in Astral/Brilliant Silver, but I have no idea if that's true. What I do know though, is that Ford did a black Escort RS Turbo for Princess Diana.

My little lady is going in for a spray next week (was delivered today). I'm putting a 16v kit on her. I will be painting it 147 on top (same colour again) but going to paint the body kit 7738 (standard cladding colour but in the 16v) Should the kit be painted in a satin as stated above or a gloss? What exactly should be satin and what should be gloss? |
