Does anyone know how to remove the rear window? Or is it going to be a professional window company job? |

Steve knows, he posted about it before.. Something about removing the seals and then lying on the back seat and push it out with your feet I think he said But you need a second person to catch it so it doesn't end up on the ground in a thousand pieces! Hope that helps til he comes along with the "how to kick out your back window instructions"

DONT DONT DONT remove the trim seal you won't get it back in again <_< just get in the back of the car and work all around the inner rubber seal with your fingers moving the ege of the seal towards the glass. this just helps to free it all off. you can also mix some fairly washing liquid in a cup and with a small amount of water then brush this behind the seal between the seal and body work. then lay on your back and push with you feet starting at the top middle and just use medium pressure then the top edges and then back to the middle until you feel the window move. it will come out. tip try it at a breakers yard first

no, its just that if you pull it all out when the window is in place you will bend and stretch the hell out of it, not good. remove the glass with the trim still in the seal, if you wish to change the trim you remove the window then the seal from the glass and then remove the trim from the seal. also if you do remove the trim with the glass still on the car you won't get it back in |

i have never done a 190 rear window matt....but by the sounds of it,it sounds like the fords i used to do.in which ...........(remember i'm a cheapskate
 )..........i used to insert a vinyl washing line covered with washing liquid on it into the groove of the seal..........have a friend gently push the window against its seat while i pulled the washing line ,which in turn pulled the rubber inwards and into place...............as i say i havent done one but just an idea........i will find out when i have to remove mine to do the boot hinge <_< ....lol

as i work for rac auto windscreens do not try and push it out with your feet start at one of the top corner spray wd40 around the inner rubber push out the corner first the work around the screen untill it s out as it loosens leave the botton of it in the body then move outside the cae and lift it out if you do not want to do it call your local rac depot go and see the boss will not charge much putting it back in will be fun as mercs were built properly it will be tight [not like old fords ] |

worked for me twice   fitting it back in was just as shrekky said but i use thin waxed rope. and as parker suggested wd40 would also aid things, getting it out and back in. Parker, or was i just very lucky not to break it then ??? used this method on several fords over the years. any advice is great. front screens are not something we can do are they ?? |

bonded windscreens are tricky but aren't impossible for joe public to do.............i'm the master at getting windscreens out of car in breakers yards without breaking them....usually takes 2 of us though.......(remember i am a cheapskate
 )......i made a tool i use to make a hole in the bonding glue..then using a inner brake cable from a mountain bike wrapped round a screw driver at each end like a cheese wire to cut through the rest of the bonding glue
...............patience is the key
.............once off .clean old bonding glue off windscreen,,,,,then clean the seat where windscreen goes,,,,,,,,then apply bonding agent primer to the windscreen seat..........let dry.then apply bonding agent to the windscreen seat and gently place windscreen, gently and carefully pushing down into place, but not to hard

another tip matt when doing it......................when using the brake cable as cheese wire, sometimes might actually have to motion it back and forth like a saw, being careful of course and the shallower the angle between the cable and windscreen the better
..........and some cars like the 190's have bonding glue with even once cut sticks back together,so you have to work pretty fast and also find a way to keep the windscreen up a bit..i normally start at the top of the passenger side.........fairly quickly go across the top and down the drivers side and prop the windscreen apart with something like old ice lolly sticks,go back to the top passenger corner and down the passenger side and across the bottom
as i say patience is the key, dont force anything even if you have to redo something 2-3 times

Can you definitely definitely definitely not get the rear window TRIM (I am referring only to the bottom one which is separate) back in if you remove it? Without removing the rear screen. |

I haven't, but it's bent in one place and I found a mint one on that 97k mile scrap car so was gonna nab it. Obviously won't bother if i've gotta remove the whole fricking window. That would be hilarious for me to remove it then come on here.... errrr. what. **insert swear word here**. **insert swear word here**. f f s. wtf i dont want to remove the complete god damn window. So sounds like there is at least a chance I would get it in? |

Russ i just looked over my old pictures of my first 190 and i cant see properly but if the lower section is just one piece (not going around the sides ) then that may well be the one i slid back in ! |
