:wacko: hy everyone, at 190. just finishing my jobs for MOT, on the failure sheet,it says,,o/srod connected to steeringarm excessive play. its marked with yellow chalk it wants replacing, but what is the correct name for it , stood underneath looking at the front, its about 18....20 inches long. like a ball joint on one end a rubber bush type thing on the other end but there is another rod attached to this one sort of on top, can anyone identify it, and where can i get one from asp cheers everyone,,ged764 :driver:

:help: no its not the track rod end, i think its the steering damper, with another rod attached to it ,,it pivots r/l. track rod ends??to be honest mate i am a bit shellshocked, i thought a few members would have, named it by now, but the response has been kak, not to worry,im learning all the time, itll get done in the end cheers ged764 :driver:

post a picture, the legend has it that they are worth a thousand words :) although I think the figure is a bit lower than that.

It is called the draglink from your description.
Goes between the steering box droparm and the idler box arm?
the steering damper should look like a shock absorber.
Find the steering box the arm on that is called the droplink.
On the other side of the car there is a mirror image of the steering droplink called the idler arm.
These bushes do go and they are a mot fail.

:D many thanks to Big ben ukmerktechie and kentronix,Thats exactly what i wanted; and a swift one for Kentronix, i am new to computers so if i knew how to get photos on, i would, but i am learning fast, ok,my faith has been restored many many thanks chaps,anyone got one , a steering shock absorber, and a drag link, cheers gedd :driver:

Steering dampers available from euro carparts not dear.
I think draglinks are available from them also,dont know the price on them though.
If you have problems sourcing one pm me and i think i have a draglink hanging round the garage somewhere.
