Hi. I was driving round in traffic in manchester yesterday in the rain and there was a bit of steam coming off the bonnet of my 190E. The engine temp was at 85. I read somewhere in this site that this is about right. Is the steam normal? |

ive owned a few 190s and had accdes to a few and it does happen on a really cold day if theres some rain or moisture in PROLONGED TRAFFIC the temp may rise to 90-100 but the FAN SHOULD kick in and bring the temp right down again as long as the steam is not from the rad your fine and as long as the temp goes back down your ok |

A lot of 190's steam in rain if they haven't got the full under bonnet insulation, looks kinda cool......but scared me to death when it first happened to me |

I had a 190D with the hood insulation. Any idea where I can get some replacement insulation from? Also, is there a danger of the insulation getting to hot/setting fire?! GulP! |

Full under bonnett insulation only available on 16v's... best to try the dealer for that kinda stuff, but you need to use the right adhesives etc... |

Sorry but I beg to differ, my 2.6 had full under bonnet pad from new, I know the guy who first drove it, this has been discussed in this forum before with differing opinions. Ian |

Sorry yes the 2.6 may well of had it fitted and some may have been fitted with the full type as an aftermarket addition. |
