Does anybody know how to lean out the idle mixture on a Pierberg Carb. This carb is on a 1987 Merc 190. She is running extremely rich at idle.

Its is a 175CDT not 174 as listed on heading

There's a screw on it, I'm struggling to remember where though - I'll check when I get home.

underneath the carb you will see a long protusion with a wire coming off it,at the top of this(fuel shut off switch) you see a 22mm nut, loosen this nut and rotate the shutoff switch(clockwise to weaken anti to richen).
they are very sensitive to adjustments, really you need a mixture analyser to do it properly.
Before i did this i would check that the choke hasnt stuck on.

Thanks for the advice. How do you check the choke diaphram to see if it is sticking. The Merc seems to idle up when cold and comes to a normal idle about 2min later. I assuming, by that action that the choke circuit is working properly. No black smoke when cold or hot, only the smell of a rich mixture at idle when hot.

Thanks
Dave :D
