ok guys i'm after some technical information or advice on how to find what i want to know. i'm after trying to find out what the compression ratio is on my car,the biggest reason for this is i want to fit a turbo to it,now i know normally you have to drop the compression on a engine for this BUT !! and its a big one,i suspect that the 4 cylinder 2 litre diesel which i have, has exactly the same spec as the one fitted into left drive turbo version.......basically a turbo engine without the turbo. theres a couple of reason i think this, the compression figures in the book are 55-60lbs per square inch, which i think is low to start with.as my n/a diesel citreon was 160-180lbs/square inch ............secondly there is nothing wrong with the compression figures on the car,but i can turn my engine by hand without the aid of any spanners or wrenches.if it is a turbo engine without the turbo would also explain way they most often than not are quite slow..............and thirdly the parts number for the engine(not including the turbo) of a left drive turbo version are exactly the same as my right hand non turbo version
or can someone tell me how i can measure the compression ratio, any information on how to get this information would be a great help thank you ps most right hand 2 litre diesels have the 601911 engine,my engine is 601910 :ph43r:..........which according to mercedes they never made

Did they make a 2.0D turbo too? I thought it was only the 2.5D they bolted a turbo onto? Have you thought of swopping over a 2.0 engine for a 2.5, then adding the turbo? More power and a known design... |

I never knew there was a 2.0D turbo, but that would be very handy if you could just bolt on on your engine and away you go! It would explain a lot though. I think you need to get in touch with some one with a 2.0D turbo, maybe one of the lads on the french or german sites can help.

Shrekky, did you get the compression info in the end? I'm interested in how you get on here. Incidentally I rang TB Turbo in Lancaster for a quote on how much they'd charge to bolt a turbo on my engine, taking it from 93bhp to 138. £2,500! Bloody hell. I said would it take so long to do? They said, nah, we just haven't done a 2.5D for a long, long time and we'd need time to re-learn how to do it...
