Just got back to Dorset with the 190E 2.6 that was Stuarts. What a fantastic car. Just couldn’t believe the power, stunning in comparison with my old 2.0. The car is factory lowered, and doesn’t it make a whopping difference, WOW I never thought a 190 could handle like this, and be so responsive, having only driven the standard 2.0 prior to this; this came as very pleasant shock. Needless to say, I’m over the moon with the car. If I knew the 2.6 was this much better I would have changed cars years ago.

One little glitch though. The heating system seems to have a problem; my 2.0 could heat the car to near roasting point within 10 mins. The heater in this 2.6 struggled to keep me Luke warm over 150 miles, and I’m sure there’s a problem with it. It blew warm air quite quickly to demist the screen, but about 20 mins later I adjusted it to blow the screen and down to my feet, but the air coming out at both ends was barely Luke warm. Also when adjusting the centre dial to direct heat, it seemed to adjust the fan speed at the same time. Never had this problem with my 2.0. I’m wondering if there could be an air lock and the heater matrix is not getting enough hot water. The temp gauge on the car stayed exactly on 80% all the way. Any suggestions please as I’ll have a good look at it tomorrow.

cheers 190 hoping it was something as simple as that. Stuart has hardly used the car, so could be why. I'll nip to MB in Dorchester tomorrow. :driver:

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

glad your loving the 2.6, they are lovely and smooth delivery of power as well arent they.

I was going to suggest the thermostat too. You will find at speed the heater gets colder than when stuck in traffic or stationary.

Cheers people

Thermostat seems to have solved the problem, cost me £11.60 from local MB dealer, and 10 minutes to fit as suggested. I was shocked as to the price of two lugs that the sun visor clips into, £8 something each, nearly fell over lol i'll give super glue a go i think B) or if anyone is breaking a 190 with light Grey interior, I'll make use of the lugs. Light Grey colour not that impotrant though.

Anyway Cheers!

:) Spot on exactly The symptoms. Yeah this 2.6 feels better every day i drive it. Been toying with it a bit, but costing me in fuel. It's impressed a few people as well, one of my staff has some kind of Fiat with body kit and sporty wheels, but when he saw the 190 this morning he was agape. Trying to talk him in to a 190, but desires some kind of beamer. Give it time, i'll educate him eventually :)

Don't forget, the 190 has one of the most solid, hardwearing interiors
ever made. It's the sum of its parts, so you should expect those parts
to cost a pretty penny...

Congrats on the 2.6, i'd like to drive one someday ;)
