Hi everyone, I have a problem. I was mucking around with the air/fuel mixture screw and when I push it down, it was stuck down and didn't spring back up so I keep on turning it left and right until the spring pop up. Then I went to start the car and it idle really roughly for a few secs then engine dies. Now when I start the car, it starts but dies instantly. Shoud I turn it clockwise to richen the mixture or anti clockwise to lean the mixture in order for the engine to start. Please help me out !!! Also, what happen if I keep turning the screw in one direction, will it stop turning eventually. Thanks in advance !! |

To get it driveable ONLY. Repeat that last bit again, depress the flapper with your hand at idle until it runs smoothly. Meanwhile-with your other hand on the 3mm allen key thatīs in place at the fuel meter-turn the screw clockwise until you can clearly feel the screw "hit" the flapper. Then...you can let the flap go with your hand to check if the engine runs. Repeat until it does. Now you can drive the car at least, but take it to someone with an exhaust gas analyzer asap. |

Thanks for all the advice guys. I've finally got the car to start and stay running. However I drove the car around the block and when I step on the accelerator pedal, it felt really sluggish till 4000rpm. I am taking the car to a mechanic on monday to adjust the mixture. Just wanted to know if anyone have a rough idea so I won't get rip off by the mechanic. thanks again everyone for help !!! |

You don't need a mechanic who knows cossies just to have the mixture adjusted! They will have exhaust analysing equipment which is a lot more than you have I'm sure, so have faith :). If you ask them they should be able to at least set the mixture correct. |
