Hi, I have a 1991 190E with the M102 2.0 engine (same engine used in W124) and I have a problem with the idle and starting. 1) Starting from cold can take a lot of churning before the engine fires 2) Whether its cold or hot, once the car has started and is being driven, when it comes to a stop in traffic the car will idle fine for 3 seconds or so before the engine just dies and then it can take a bit of churning before it restarts. So far I have replaced the dizzy cap as there were signs of arc'ing. The timing was also slightly out so this has been reset, still to no avail. As the car is also converted to run on LPG, I know that it can't be a blocked fuel filter as the car runs the same whether its on LPG or petrol. I also need to point out that once the car is driving along, it drives beautifully, with no flat spots or any form of hesitation...its only starting and idle which is at fault. Any thoughts???? PS. My local Merc Indi has replaced the Idle Control sensor and the Over Voltage Protection Relay and the Coil with good ones from their 190 and the car is still stalling.....wierdly sometimes the car can be driven for hours without the problem occuring, however, once switched off and restarted the car can then conk out 6 times in a row. HELP!
