Hi i have looked through posts and cannot find anything to do with oil for a 16v, anyway i have just bought a new air filter and oil filter, just wanting to know what oil shall i be using (car has 126,000 on her) what do all you 16v owners use and what is the best, make etc. also shall i bother using flushing oil?????? |

I only use Mobil 1 0W 40. But only because my engine is new. For older engines its best to use whatever has been used in the past...I'd guess at 10W 40. But do yourself a favour and only use a quality brand. As for flushing additives. Its all marketing nonsense, don't waste your money. |

yer, i use 10 40 in mine also, any brand within MB spec. i think the key is to change the oil often rather than use overpriced branded stuff. wouldnt flush out a high mileage engine either myself. |

Change the oil hot, and change it often. Typically circa 3k. |
