If it is in dollars, thats actually not a bad price! Considering you'd have every fiddly damn little piece you'd need! Im sure the list is a little shorter if you are just fitting cladding, skirts, and two bumpers.. Has anyone priced a simple(ish) part list kit that would enable a 16v kit onto a standard car? just for the: -bodycladding clips, -sideskirt screws, bolts, & rubber seals -and the clips for the rear bumper & valence *I omitted the front bumper as its just 6 bolts & washers.. Ukmerctechie perhaps?

Does anybody have some tricks & tips for the gentle removal of various clipped-on bodykit/cladding pieces? For example, on my 1993 1.8 I'd like to remove the large 'Sacco' panels on either side of the rear bumper. If you remove the boot-well liners, you can see the backs of some of the clips. Any hints?

Ah, yes... I had them off mates 190 2.0 few days ago, just use small pliers to squeeze the clips in and push them out... Are you sure you want to take them off? There might be something behind there you don’t like.. But your car being so late i doubt you'd have anything except for dirt... Good luck... |

Well, there's a scar in the underseal on the outside bottom of the spare-wheel-well, and tbh if I'm going to need to patch anything up I may as well be thorough. The weather's mental this week though, I may leave it a fortnight or so. |

Wow that's a lot of little parts. I'm glad I don't have this kit on my car. I feel that big cladding and kits like this create a perfect place for rust to form and eat the car away. My Zender kit doesn't cover like this so there's no way rust will form. |

It acts as a buffer between the cladding and door, to prevent the cladding vibrating and wearing through the paint. It is only about 4-5mm wide and is stuck to the top edge of the cladding (including rear bumper on 16v). It is one of the many items on my list that I need to buy when I sort the paint on the 16v. Hope this helps Andy. Chris |

Thanks Chris. Better get some on order then. It must wear off pretty quickly, there is no trace of it on the two sets of cladding I have. Hope all well with you and the car. Andy Edited by aemt, Wed Aug 17, 2011 8:02 am.

Hope somebody can help with this one as my main dealer can't! We have searched the MB computer parts diagram but can't seem to locate this clip. I'm referring to my 1988 190 2.0lt UK spec (RHD) which has lower body cladding. The part concern is the moulding between the rear bumper and rear door. It is held on with four small clips on the top and two large clips on the bottom. Can anyone tell me the part number of the two lower clips that hold the moulding to the body? Just to be clear its the clips that locate in the car body I'm looking for and not the two female ones that are on the moulding. I've tried to upload a photo but don't know where it has gone. If anyone can tell me how to do this I'll add the photo later. Many thanks in anticipation. |

...just wanted to offer up these pictures from when I had to remove the body panels from one side of my 1992 model (2.0 190e). These were only the side panels from the back of the front wheel-arch along to the front of the rear wheel-arch. I've circled the clips that got broken during removal! I think the operation might have gone easier if the weather had been warmer as the nylon spear-head fasteners do not want to be pulled out of their orifices at all easily - even with the encouragement of lubricant. Basically, I prized away each plastic panel at one corner from the bodywork wherever I could get the most movement (no more than an inch) and then tried to look inside the panel cavity to figure out where to go from there - this didn't damage the panels, but did fracture two clips before I got a fair idea of what to do next. The skirt panel that runs all the way along under the doors was the last component to come out and was easiest to remove due to being held in place by simple screws - but you have to remove all the other panels in order to get to it! The upper lline of screws are hidden behind the black rubber insert strip, which can be freed at one end with use of a screwdriver blade and then pulled out to uncover all the screwheads. All other panels have a set of clips along their lower edge that are best removed by working from the underside of the panel, forcing it to bend outwards from the bodywork, and using a slender screwdriver to unclip the clips from the panel, rather than trying to separate the two halves of the clips from each other - thus ending up with the entire clip left attached to the bodywork (one of the pictures shows where to insert the screwdriver under the edge of one lug on the clip body, and there are two lugs on each clip body). The clips along the top edges of these panels are slide-off lugs for the door panels (unscrew the retaining screw at one bottom corner of the panels and then slide the panels off towards the back of the car - about 2 cm of travel - and then outwards), and then the last two wheel-arch panels just have to be pulled off at the top edge (as far as I can tell!). I did recover all of my clips, but did resort to bodging the broken clips back in place using chemical metal. Sorry for the acts of cruelty ![]() Upon re-fitting I secured the top edges of all the panels first (remembering that the bottom skirt panel has to go back first in the order). Now, when you try and push the bottom edges of the door and wheel-arch panels back onto their clips you do need to push a screwdriver blade back up underneath each clip body so that it is angled appropriately to slot back over the plastic ridge along the inside of each panel. That's a bit fiddly, but you'll figure it out, and don't worry about using quite a bit of force as the panel plastic seems to be quite resilient... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
