i have a'89 2 litre 190e.yesterday there was a liquid leak on the road roughly under the auto box area.fearing the worst,i crawled underneath.i saw some sort of flexible rubber pipe from above the box coming down the side.it looks like some kind of drain pipe.i think whatever is leaking, water rather than fluid i hope is coming through this.any light shed on this much appreciated.

have you topped up your coolant water recently?
sounds like you may have put too much in and it is overflowing through the pipe you described.

i did change coolant at the weekend but i thought the only overflow pipe was the one in the header tank, not the one i found sort of curling over the top of the auto box .
