Hi, having a wee problem (from Scotland), I think the diff on my 190D has a problem. I get a bit of a clunk when I accelerate between gear changes. Even if Im increasing to say 40 and then take my fott right off the pedal I get a clunk. I had a look under the back end and checked bushes, springs, shocks and everything seems to be okay. Just wondered if anyone could give some advice. Thanks in advance Lee

There is a rubber coupling on the drive shaft near the gear box have a look at that before blame it on the diff. Got to change mine aswell, about £60 from the stealership. |

My clunk was caused by a subframe mounting bush hard to spot without removing the wheel and getting a lever to find the play

Hello, I've got the same problem on my 2.3 16v...If you get under at the rear and twist the propshaft you should be able to see where the play is and hear the familiar clunk as you do it..!! you will also be able to see how all of the other joints are ..!! Mine is clunking at the diff end of the propshaft....it's the Diff for Me I'm fraid...I hope you have better news....!! Cosser...!!!! |
