I am in the US just bought my first Mercedes a 1991 190E 2.3L 115k miles from my grandfather. It's a great lil car but I have noticed that it needs some maintenance. There are two main problems at the moment.

1) I'm leaking radiator fluid. I'm not sure if it's a bad hose or a leak in the radiator itself. Is there something that I can put into the radiator that will plug the hole?

2) The car is hard to crank. I have to let the engine turn over longer then normal and it runs rough for the first 30 sec or so before it calms down. When first start to drive power is sluggish. After the car has warmed up it runs normal. Are my injectors clogged? What type of injector clean is good to run in Mercedes?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thankz

Hi welcome to the site.

1. it would be best to find the leak and replace the leaking part (it may just be a loose jubelee clip on a pipe, it usually is.) rather than putting these so called quick fix products into the engine.

2. Sound like it could be the injectors or the choke not operating properly, it wouldnt hurt to give the injectors a clean and a good oil/filterchange/plugs anyway.

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

hi,

Welcome to the site.
I tried radweld and it didnt help but I guess it depends on the hole. In my opinion though if the stuff can bloke a hole it could probably bloke other bits in your cooling system.

I would check it over in case it is something as simple as a split hose or broken clip.

Hello and welcome B)

(1) Like the others have said, id check all pipes etc for leaks. I have used Holts Rad Weld to good effect on a number of cars over the years. It even cured a leak on my heater matrix on my last 190!!! So its always worth a try before buing a new rad.

(2) It sounds like your cold start valve isnt working for some reason. It could be a senser or the valve/injector its self. It may well just be blocked so id run some injector cleaner through it and see if that helps.

Welcome bc :D
I would let a local mechanic look at it, and tell you whats wrong. Shouldn't be too expensive to sort out.
