Hi This is my 1st post and thought anyone out there wondering how good their car is might enjoy this little tale ... I've owned my 2.3-16v for about 11 years now, but I've been in Canada for the last few years and the car was just parked up in my garage and left in 2002. Anyway, long story short - I came back to the UK last Friday, cleaned the plugs, put some fresh petrol in, charged the battery, turned the key, and "hey presto" one sweetly idling Cossie! I'd like to see someone do that with their 118k 20 year old Golf ...!! As it happens, I'm going to be returning to Canada permanently in the next few months, so if anyone is interested in one of the last 2.3-16s, I'll be posting it in the for sale soon. Car is very orginal (still has its original Becker stereo) and mechanically very good (I had the car MB serviced for all its time with me) but the bodywork is a bit tired and needs some TLC. I'll also be posting some pics in the right section, as soon as I figure it out. John |

Hi Shrekky, I thought about it quite a lot, but it isn't really practical for us; the cost to ship (along with everything else that has to go as well) is high - Quebec (our destination) has the world's worst roads that are full of massive potholes - and it is dangerous enough in traffic there with the wheel on the left of the car, let alone with one on the right! That said, I'm hoping I can find it a good home. John |
