Im getting an exhaust in the coming weekends from a sports place and was wondering if anyone on the forum has put a quad exhaust system on a 16v before?

this will still be suttle as i will still use same looking end pipes and cut only the same hole that is in the left hand side of the bumper for the exhaust.

i'm pretty sure there was a post here last year from someone in eastern europe who had a twin exhaust on their 190e.

It would be a good place to start if you could find it

the guys who are doing the exhaust will be inserting the new system infront of the expansion box on the front exhaust section.
Thus only leaving the 2 downpipes and where they join together as being original bits.

is this normal?

tail pipe looks nice, im getting myself a new system this winter too, but not sure if i like to put the hacksaw in my bumper to make cut out for the tailpipe, or if should go for the standard look with bent pipes behind the bumper

i went for a compromise really, most people have twin pipes so wanted different. I also reffused to have the bumper cut even though i have a spare

dificult to describe so will take a video of it this week, not too loud and enhances the unique sound of the car.

Higher end sounds similar to the racers

That looks very nice mate.

When i had one fitted to my 2.0l i found that the tone got deeper and more rounded the more miles i did. I was told its down to the carbon build up in the system.

yeah mine is getting quieter as expected but sounds like a v6 a bit now, and screams at high revs B)

if you want twin pipes on one side it will be £220 but if you want exhaust exit on both sides of the car, without major mods to the wheel well it will not fit.

With the subframe you can only fit a 3.5" pipe through that area as there is quite a small space and piping it bellow that will be hitting ramps ect

Thats the place :)

I took a mate up there to get a new exhaust for his E30, they were excellent. Very good value too.

may well be taking my powerflow of soon
it is sameish with the standard looking rear end ie twin downturned pipes but im gonna go back to steel me thinks

my system is sounding better now not so "stainless" sounding true they do take a while to sound rite etc but i think i stil prefer the steel

wish i could just swap em out for a few days just to make up my mind lol

A agree Col most stainless steel exhausts sound very tinny when compared to the ole mild steel sports systems you used to be able to buy.

on another note Longlife exhausts in Plymouth are far better custom stainless steel exhaust builders than any powerflow creation ive seen. they use far better grade stainless steel which actually stays looking shiny and doesnt tarnish like the pap stainless steel that powerflow use. also the welds they produce are far better.

ive seen many powerflow exhausts from different branches and after a year or two they always tarnish up and get rusty looking specles on the silencers. also ive heard alot of stories of baffles breaking up quickly in the boxes powerflow use.

Longlife exhausts of cattedown plymouth are awesome, pop in there and look at the difference in quality of the exhaust boxes and pipe if you doubt my word............ remember there are many varying grades of stainless steel.

mmmn tend to agree mate ive had 3 or 4 power flow systems on different cars

including a 202 and my landy and my audi etc and have to go back coupla times with welding probs..

i have some black areas now on welds with the one on now so its back to steel me thinks

it just has a nicer tone i think... im not talkin bout the back box sound but the thru sound as it resonates below you etc you know what i mean ?

so may well have most of a stainless for sale soon

;)

agreed, on all the e30 325i's ive owned ive always stuck with factory original steel systems cos they sounded so much more gruff than any stainless steel system i tried.

on the 190e i only fitted a stainless steel system as my mild steel system was shot and i got the stainless system dirt cheap.

Only paid £220 and the guys there were ace and won lots of awards so trusted them lots.

yes yours does sound nice from behind etc i must admit people say mine sounds good but its that mid tone sound from within the car that stainless seems to lack ive noticed it on all mine steel has a better tone i think from the drivers seat and is more pleasing i can certainly tell after a few miles that the stainless is moree tinny sounding its to treble e if you catch my drift thats why i wanna go back etc

even a different design in steel etc i may try but i will go back sometime...

and tbh 220 is cheap for that isnt it ?? i think i paid 300 fore the fron section not the steel one either

700 quid plus for steel from merc i think it was ....

so at 220 thats nice

im tempted by a zaber12 system in steel !!!!!!

hard to say, think its more of a power band increase as it will pull to the limiter with no fuss and torque has increased as shown coming back on sunday.

Would say at the max an extra 10 horses but general drivability has been increased.

Car feels more sportier tbh

Well, you certainly can't quibble at the price - £22 per bhp ain't too bad.
