Does anyone know the part number for the early type of 2.3 Cosworth exhaust manifold? Does anyone have a view (fragility aside) as to which is better? I have a spare one (I think!) and while I can see that the welds at the pipes could be a lot better, I reckon they could be reinforced q. easily. Point is, are the later ones more efficient, or merely more strongly made? |

No, it's different pattern all together, as well as lacking the brazed upper brackets which ours have. It's a much more conventional design, but obviously flawed, otherwise they would not have replaced it. I'll post when I've got them both cleaned up and the older one reinforced. I think the later one is a work of art (on the outside, at least), but as to whether it's more efficient, I have no idea. |

Different pattern
You sure its not a manifold for a left hand drive car? |

You clever bloke! Of course, the spare engine is a German one, but nonetheless the pattern is still different: http://www.detali.ru/cat/oem_mb2.asp?TP=1&...SGR=060&SGN=03t |

yep left hand one is UK Right hand drive car, and Right hand one is Left hand drive. Reason being is Left hand drive cars do not have steering box getting in the way. Also Left hand drive manifolds allow for an extra 4bhp |

Sounds like that could get complicated, Nick - mind you, with a little judicious hot sand pipe-bending, perhaps it could be made to fit? 4 bhp ain't bad - I wonder why? they're both equal lpressure systems and the pipes are the same length as far as I can tell. |

I've just compared them - the LHD one is much smoother at the start of the pipes - no nasty blobs of weld, etc., so perhaps that's it. I wonder if they made them differently? |
