Hi guys

Lewis pointed me in the right direction with image posting I hope- new to the site so just starting out. Hopefully you can see some pics of my other 2 Mercedes. I got a white immaculate 190e 1.8 73k miles that I will photo over Xmas when its been detailed a bit more. I know where to find alot of obselete parts for older Mercedes too. Just got a set of the original (blue) ribbed carpet sets- I love those they never look dirty and seem to last forever and a day! Im just sorting the front prop coupling that has perished under the man gearbox on my car. Im taking all the lights and rubbers out to polish grime away and all under the arches and suspension which is all as new paint no rust. All the grime needs to come off as I'm very fussy!

Wow!
Those are beautiful, but forgive me for favouring your 199 Blauschwarz R107!
Fcuk me that's a pretty car, and at the same time decidedly blokey!
Exceptionally well kept, both are such a credit to you.

As mercedes190.co.uk rapidly turns in to pistonheads!

Actually not a bad idea though but why limit it to Mercs? Anything of interest is good for me!

hi again
yes there's some nice machinery on here too thanks! i just love older mercedes-pre 95 not post when for me something at sindelfingen went slightly wrong, and bruno sacco is indeed a genius. i have more pics somewhere. the green 230e is the first mercedes i ever bought 11 years ago, the only respray work is the bonnet the rest is totally original- it has now done 190000mls and never let me down, never had a clutch, and i only did the brakes recently after 11 years. the sl i spent 2 years and a hundred wasted journeys to find. then it took 12 mths to get it like it is. its done 60000 miles and has 18 dealer stamps and £1000s in bills and maintainance. the leather is like new there is no rust the spare wheel and tyre have never been on, but there is always room for improvement! if you start with something good and take it to another level you can in time get a car as near to brand new as you wish-and your wallet allows!! its a 500 too- anybody who says that the straight sixes are better has never driven a good v8! as aerodynamic as a brick and heavy as a tank but still goes like a rocket with 290lb torque. i am looking forward to spending time on the 190. it is as good potentiallybut as with everything it will take time to get 15 years of grime from it. no wear on the drivers bolster though underside as new. i spent 12 hours removing grime from the underside last week. but the girlfriend gets kind of agitated when the cars get more attention than her-3 cars and a girlfriend is about all i can handle i reckon!

bombard you with pics! the coupe is the one i used to own- soon the 190e will be on these pages. i read with interest the post about what you all use to clean and polish your motors- in the 20 years i have been at it i have aquired a number of tips about tackling any material. the main thing with them all is to take your time and be sympathetic to avoid scratching- its often not the product but how you apply it. every time you clean the surface of any material on your motor you are using abrasive actions and its easy to scratch and wear away paint and trim. the next 3 pics give you an idea of the depth of shine on my car- then i will leave you alone for a bit-sorry this is a 190 site after all- will get mine on here soon i promise!

all the cars on here are cool- i know im a fanatic about the way i keep mine but i like to drive em too or there no point. 190s are just starting to appreciate and it wont be long before prices start rising when people realise just how good they are. i consider the cosworth to be a masterpiece and if i could own another mercedes i would... but my hands are kinda full right now- and thats just holding onto the girlfriend!!! ps evoluzione that red one looks pretty cool too. my dad had a w210 for a while but just sold it to get another w124 estate like he used to have-another great car! i love them all.

loverly love em too death

on the other cars point

i think as it was originally just for 190`s to open it up to all and anything would be a bit much allthough we doo talk about all and anything i agree

i was thinkin more along the lines of just a section for our other mercs tho just one small area

maybe other mercs then our other cars in totality type thing

then the 190 area would be less cluttered from other stuff

just my thoughts anyway .. see what people think

lovin the pics tho real nice stuff

i always fancied an sl or slc tbh

If you don't mind me asking, did you buy your SL through a dealer or private sale and was it more than £20,000 or below? The reason I'm asking is because there are a some on various websites that differ in price so much. What options does yours come with?

hi katie

yes i ended up buying it from a dealer- i know them all- a list as long as the m1! i looked at 100s most described as great but when i got there -not so great. the main thing with most of them with leather- and you need it if you spend big money is that it can look tired-even on low mile cars and the drivers bolster is always worn. if you spend over 15k you need leather and the best colours- black! you get what you pay for- history is all important. if you are interested i can send you a list of where to look and what to look out for. to get one like mine you need around 20k- anything under 15 is a lottery and the cheap ones are wrecks- it can cost more to get a 10k car to a decent level than 20k total. and you need an 86-89 galvanised body-early ones rot like hell.

I was only talking about the pagoda the other day! I love them too! The only problem is I have three children, and you can't fit all three or even two in the back! I love the 280SL pagoda. My other half hired me one for our 10th wedding anniversary for a weekend! What colour have you seen and what engine size?
