Greetings one and all. I've just bought myself a pristine White 190 Auto circa 1989 with a mere 69K miles on the clock and a full service history.

This is my second Merc the first being a 1955 180B that I bought when serving in Germany in 1966.

I've always found Forums full of like minded folk with all the answers to help this poor Luddite with any technical queries. bow.gif .

So hopefully I'll be an active member and I'll be picking your brains from time to time.

Cheers for now :D

Hi, and welcome to the site. I see that you were in Germany in 1966. So was I. Where were you ?

I was in Osnabruck and I was in the Royal Fusiliers.

Sorry but the 180B finally passed away in the mid 70's :(

The build quality wasn't up to scratch in those days and rust got the better of it in the end.

Lovely car to drive and if I managed to get it above 100 kph I'd celebrate :D

Certainly not a car to rush anywhere in.....well mine wasn't.

Cheers

Shuggie,I too had a great time in Germany. It was a few very happy years. We used to fly in and out of Gutesloh. We used to do guard duty on Rudolph Hess in Spandau castle .Got to know him a bit. We also did guard duty at Senelager.

Great days and lots of great memories too !

Welcome . Mike.
