Hi all, this is my first post here and I thought I was the only one in the world with strange feelings towards my 190E. Imagine my joy at finding several thousand other people with this type of illness. Anyway, it's a bit old and tired and needs some TLC but it felt like grief when my good lady suggested it was time for me to buy something else. In fairness to her we were stationary on a dual carriage way at the time with what appears to be transmission problems. Emerging from the drivers side door into 80mph traffic is what I imagine life inside a Playstation to be like but fortunately I was wearing brown cords which masked my excitment brilliantly! I had my gearbox for my 1989 2.6 190E reconditioned a few years ago but I reckon it's had it this time so my question is where do I get another one and where is the best place in your house to hide it?

OK, I live near Ascot Racecourse in Berkshire but I'm from the North East. I found a posh bird to go out with who wasn't repulsed by gravy and chips and here I am. I hope I'm putting this stuff in the right place. Not yet message board savy! Thanks for your help. Have now discovered smilie things too --->

Thanks Dave. I think it's going to be a bit of a project. I've thought about restoring it as there are a few rust spots appearing here and there. The engine seems pretty sound and it drives brilliantly well. The suspension was stiffened and lowered by Mercedes when new and it has body kit all the way around it.Leather interior, original stereo and it's just a very good example. It corners like it's on rails and i think deserves the effort to bring it back to mint. I may have been watching too much "Overhaulin" on Sky but I do think it's worth the effort. I have a mechanic that services it but if it were about transmission and re-conditioning the engine I'd have to look for some enthusiasts i think. I'll get the Camera out tomorrow and hopefully work out how to post some pics so you can see what I'm talking about. I'd love to hear from anyone that's up for a project like this and any advice gratefully recieved.

Cheers,
Jeremy

People must come on here for a look sometimes and imagine we're all fully paid-up members of Combat 18!
