Hi Everyone..

Bought a 190 Mercedes G Reg manual last week... which I had found this forum first !

The cars runs really well and I am enjoying it loads. However it has one problem that it does not start on first turn on the key from cold and then when it does start it is " lumpy " for about 1 minute and then drives lovely...

Any thoughts?

By the way I am enjoying the threads.

Hi All

Actually it was this one on Ebay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...E:X:RTQ:GB:1123

I ended paying £500. I was keen because of the 12 months MOT and I had a limited budget.

Keen to learn more about the 190s now so this forum should be great

It could be many things coldstart valve or temp sensor, best bet is to check through the engine threads for cold start problems and see if any match yours exactly, otherwise we could be throwing suggestions at you for a week.

As roadwolf has mentioned it could be to do with the cold start valve or you have a vacuum leak around the injection system....

Yes it is "190"
You can tell by the air filter and carb on the side...
Glanced over too quickly

Hence the comments about cold start valves - don't really apply, do they? Not familiar with the Merc carbs (not even seen one like that before - what is it??)

Hi Folks

Just to let you know I got the car back from the garage this afternoon. The problem was split vaccumn pipes and the carb being blocked and full of gunge. Had pipes replaced and carb cleaned out and now it starts and drives lovely with no lumpiness......

Cost £40.. please as punch!

Thanks guys.

Did the 190 1990 Merc come either a Carb or a Fuel Injection system then?

Yes, the 190 is the carbed model and the 190E is the fuel injected one.
