Hi i'm Al and i'm from Leeds.

This is actually my second post as my first was in response to a question in technical. Unfortunatley my post ha to be editted 'cos i gave away "sensitive information".

What an idiot, not a good start.

Ayway, the reason ive joined is 'cos i'm going to get a 190 fairly soon and its good to be a member of a forum for advice and things.

I had a blue 1991 ,1.8 manual in 2004 for 6 months. I actually borrowed it from my dad and after a few months i was instructed to sell it . Gutted! I couldn't afford to run another untill now. I actually sold it to a mate who still has it and he reminds me all the time how good it is!

Anyway, that experience tought me just how brilliant this car is. In 7 years i have owned 10 old cars and two vans, and from a Mondeo to a mini to a transit NOTHING i have sampled comes even close to the Merc for build quality and sheer driving enjoyment.

So, now ive got to decide what i want. Do i want a diesel to go for the economy and to play with alternative fuels? Do i go for a 1.8 for all round usabilty and good running costs? a 2.0? what about a Sportline? Do i want an auto or a manual? Perhaps i want to go for cubes and find a 2.6? Maybe i want to terrorise the streets and find a cosie?

I have no idea at the moment. But i do know i definatly want one. So for now i'll just say hi.

hi

Al :D

Welcome.
I never realised how good a 190 was until i actually drove one.

Now I have one as my daily driver, and its fantastic. "Only" a 2.0 auto, but its a fantastic car.

Good luck in your search.

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

hi there, welcome to the forum.

As you will find there are lots of discussion on which is better for which purpose. Feel free to ask though, my personal fave is the 2.6 although it obviously costs a lot more to run than a 2.0 or 1.8. It depends on how your going to use it really, and your budget (including ongoing).

Perhaps i want to go for cubes and find a 2.6?

I've a 2.6 Auto from 1987 going for £1700 ono

Have a look in For Sale section - last action on 31st Oct.

I've just taken some more pictures of the interior I could do with adding to the post.

It's a bit of a long treck from one end of the country to the other - but if you're seriously interested - there'll be a way.

All the best in your search - there's plenty around

Hello and welcome B) Get yourself a 2.6 mate B) They aint that bad on fuel tbh. Plenty of power to weight so you can just cruise around using the mountain of torque that they have :D
