1.8 Oil In Water Resevoir! Howcome?; Oily water...

Greetings fellow enthusiasts!

I am the proud owner of a red 1.8

I've notice there is oil mixing with the water. I have been told it's a good thing it's not the other way round but still don't know the cause. Any ideas out there?

I recently listed it on ebay with the intention of selling it and getting one with a bit more power. I went out in it yesterday, just down to the pub (only had ONE pint officer...) but got chatting with mates about her and she caught my eye a couple of times, with her shiny paint job parked up outside and I realised our love afair is still far from over. There are still so many things to do, so many places to go!

I quickly finnished my pint in two and carefuly drove back home. Raced upstairs to the laptop and immediatly removed the 'Buy Now' and increased the reserve!

I have included the Ebay link as a reference, so please don't bid!

PS. If you are one of the ten watches, I appologise!
PPS. If any Cosworth owners out there find my addvert offensive, I do appologise again!

Welcome.

I'm sorry to be so blunt, but whoever told you that had better not be making their living repairing cars. They're a dumbass.
Richy is dead right, it points to a blown headgasket.
How nice of you not to mention this little 'characteristic' in your eBay advert.

The red ones are quite seductive, you're right about that...

Very true what you were told, oil in the water is no problem but water in the oil is a totally different matter and probably an engine write off!
Head gasket should sort it, and maybe a bit of machining.
Good luck!

If its an auto sometimes they get transmission oil into the system via a leaky oil cooler that is fitted into the radiator.
