Hi Guys, just bought my first merc so thought I would say hello. It is a lowly 1.8 190E which runs like a bag of spanners! Already had a good trawl through the archives over poor idle etc so will be looking at the ICV! Managed to snap one of the oil breather hoses tonight  Anyway great site - I am sure I will be posting HELP requests when I get a new pipe sorted out! Anyone fron Birkenhead here? ta Ade |

Hello and welcome
BTW, try doing THIS Also check the idle control valve(ICV) to see if its sticking. clean it out with carb cleaner and check its not sticking. Setting these two things up correctly can work wonders to the running of our cars <_< Stu |

thanks guys.
I took the ICV off and it seemed o.k. - cleaned it out anyway - noticed that the lower hose wasn't in brilliant condition so will order a new one to go with the new breather hose. Had a look at the Air flow plate - on mine there is a bit of slack movement - I mean you can push it down a little bit really easily then it seems to connect with something else and is harder to push. Does that sound right? ta Ade P.S. I already have a garage overflowing with Scimitars so if I start collecting Mercs I really will be in trouble with the wife!! |
