Cat Replacement Pipes.; Can I fit a MK1 exhaust instead?

My cat has died (aahhhh). As mine is a 92 pre cat requiring model (actually re-reg'd on a G plate by a previous owner) can I get away with fitting the exhaust from an earlier car? I was going to remove the box and replace it with some straight pipe until I looked underneath and saw the double entry and exit to the cat. Oh for the simplicity of my old Mk11 RS. :help:

Depends how well you know your local MOT guy I guess, you see DeCatted cars being sold on PistonHeads all the time.

If you de-cat your car you might have a problem with your emissions.
