Hi, just posted something else on replacing my head gasket and I also need to replace my exhaust.

It's a 190E 1.8 Kreg, the back section seems ok, it's the cat and front pipes that need replacing because there's rust and cracks. Any ideas of where I can order online to save myself some cash, don't need anything fancy just want the car to be reliable and last me for 5 yrs or so, do I go ceramic or steel re. the cat? Also, how much should a new radiator cost me?

Thanks for the advice!

don't waster your time buying anything. take it to a competent muffler shop and have him bend and weld some new stainless tubing for you to match the diameter of the stock tubing.

Hah. I KNEW it. You should live in the real world bro. There are NO exhaust shops over here who would do that for you. Sorry. Muffler shops. Over here a muffler is something you wear around your neck when it gets cold... :$

As much as I hate to say it Mark..... he's right. Any custom exhaust shop will do this for you, i.e. any Powerflow outlet.

I had the cat removed on my 2.0 and had them make up a 2.25" stainless steel centre pipe that resembled the original piping. Whilst this worked out much better than forking out £400 for a new centre-section from Mercedes and make the car 'breathe' a lot easier (noticeable power gains when teamed up with a decent 'sport' backbox like a Remus), i must warn you of the negative issue about emissions.

Since i've had the cat replaced with a straight-pipe my emissions have been slightly higher than they should be.

The issue of what the CO % for the 190 is up in the air at the moment, but last year my car failed on having emissions 0.1% higher than the legal limit. I was ok this year as the 190 wasn't listed in the VOSA test book (and therefore is 'supposedly' by law allowed to have a maz CO % of 3.5%) but not everyone can have a fair MOT tester.

Just thought i would inform you of both sides of the story. The choice is yours!
