Exhaust manifold studs, anything special ?

Are exhaust manifold studs made of anything special ?

The reason I ask is I am planning on extending mine out and fixing an oven to them. Yes, I did say oven. I want a semi sealed metal container sat right above the exhaust manifold that I can cook things in. Obviously they will be fully sealed in tin foil packs.

I used to cook on my mini's exhaust manifold and it works great, but this time I want an actual oven, of sorts :P I dont want to be looking in the rear view mirror and see my lemon chicken go past !

So whats the deal, can I just use threaded bar ?

to answer your question kenny...................nope,ordinary run of the mill mild steel..........................and instead of extending the studs...............why nit just make the "oven" with lugs on them, take either the nut off or the stud out, take the washer off to give you the space for your oven lugs ;) :D

cheers shrekky, I dont really have the ability to fabricate anything, but I do have the ability to drill holes in a suitable 'oven' and bolt it onto the extended studs.

noooo, I want to keep all that lovely cooking power under the bonnet. There is so much room in the 124 I could cook a hog in there !!
