A bit late I know, but I've had no internet for three weeks. Anyway, me and the missus had a top time and can't wait for next year's Retro. Nice to meet you all and to see the cars for the first time. So here's a few snapshots of the day, hope you like....

Likewise Anthony, shame your car wasn't there. Good job my wheels weren't 16"s, I've a feeling I'd have come back to my car on bricks!!
Uploaded a few more pics, here ya go...

Bless, reminds me of Croft & Blackburn's Forecourt in Middlesbrough, circa 1990!
Best stand award? we woz robbed!!!!!

And a few of the cars that caught our eye. This awesome Porker 924 had a blown small block Chevy motor and pulled sub 9 second quarters all day. Owner was a top bloke too.
Posted Image
Nice Ford Galaxie, not to be confused with the tragic people carrier version!
Posted Image
The gorgeous mangatmotorsport car about to beat the living p1ss out of an Audi S3....
Posted Image
Heh heh! Bye Bye Audi...
Posted Image
Battle of the veggie burners! Chris's 2.5 was sounding very nice.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Podzilla was worth a look, especially when it almost tipped over and lost half its vital fluids (or maybe it was the driver wetting himself...)
Posted Image
This thing was awesome, almost split my bloody eardrums as it went past!
Posted Image
Posted Image
And this was about my favourite car of the show, it ignited my love for Mk1 Escys again. It said "1100L" on the wing badges, but I reckon it was lying juding by how it looked and sounded...
Posted Image

And so to the evening. Having been to a few of these events with other car clubs, I knew that following a day of cars and copious amounts of alcohol, must come fire, especially when the temperature drops. So, take one large empty metal rubbish bin, add some wood, obtained from, er, somewhere and bingo!
Posted Image
Cheeersh! Hic! You're my beshtesht mate in the world ever! (etc..)
Posted Image
Posted Image
(note that despite the cold temperature, the club polo shirt is doing fine work in keeping the cold out!)
Dave(mercedescossy) made a fine cardboard gatherer when the wood ran out. Top work fella!
Posted Image
He hit upon the idea of us taking the car and filling it with cardboard. We were doing quite well until site security caught us and made us put it back! Tut tut Dave, the site rules clearly state "no burnouts!" Mind, that grass was unusually slippery!
Posted Image
A special mention on the night had to go to Kenny and his "headache in a glass 2008". My teeth itched the next morning!
So, same time next year, eh? Let's aim for a nice round 50 on the stand!

Nice to hear from the Northern Convoy! Shame I parked in the wrong place at Tibshelf and missed out on the photos (my fault for following shrekky into the petrol station... :-/ ). Our little convoy must have looked good despite the monsoon conditions! Dave, I did't know there were photos either, should have known not to leave the missus with the camera if we didn't want incriminating photos!
I (or we!) will try to get along to the next Northern GTG.
Pentoman, cheers for getting the photo of that CSL Batmobile, I'd forgotten about that, stunning car.

I'm only really here for the Kitchens

certainly to get as many people to go as possible. We should attempt to arrive earlier though, we were told (and it was obvious) that we would have won best stand if it weren't for the fact most of us hadn't arrived when the judging took place. In fact I was probably still in bed :P

Next retro we all need to be on the stand early as we missed out on the best club stand award as everyone was late (that info was given to us by the event organisers, they judged at 12 and when they returned at 3 they couldnt believe our setup but it was too late).

The bad thing is many of us were probably there but over in the camping field setting up the camping gear, still, we know for next year.

Next year I will be buying my strip pass earlier on in the day, I only got 2 runs last time !! That reminds me, I must get that supercharger :P
