first, i sold the center resonator on eBay. with the sale confirmed and the part paid for, i was off to the muffler shop to spend that money on dleeting and removing the resonator. i paid $120 US for him to make a Y-pipe coming out of the cat and attaching to the 2.5" piping that goes out of the resonator into the muffler (this is a 300e guys, not a 190, but same concept as m103 190e). so, with the rest of the exhaust stock, i turn on the car, and couldn't tell the difference in sound. drove the car, and couldn't tell the difference in flow/throttle response, nothing. conclusion, when deleting the center resonator, do yourself a favor, and replace the cat with a high flow cat, so that the muffler shop guy can pip it directly from the cat to the muffler. otherwise it's a waste of time. by the way, the best high flow replacement cat for the stock catalytic for all 2.6's and late 2.3's, is a magnaflow 94008. perfect size and inlet outlet pipe size. |
