Exhaust Manifold 2.5-16; Might have a leak!

Can anyone help me.... What would be the symptoms if my exhaust manifold had a crack in it (a small one!)??

I think it might be and I actually have a spare but it's not going to be easy to get off the car so want to cover all bases really!

depending on the size you would get noise (because you would be able to hear the detonation directly) and it would maybe run badly because of a lack of back-pressure.

well if you have an exhaust manifold on your 2.5-16, the easy solution is to get the exhaust headers, which are a readily available stock item. but if what you mean is that your headers are cracked, then you just remove them and take them to a muffler shop to have them welded

I'm not sure they are available any more, but if they were, the last listed price I saw was £1100. But they are stainless steel, so you'd need a TIG set-up. I'm having one ceramically-coated next week.

Nice... How much and where are getting it coated?? Is it an experiment or do you know that it wont crack and hold the coating?

I've got a spare but it is a pain to change just in case, so I wanted to be more confident that it was cracked

Manifold = Headers
Same thing.

Funny how the American chooses to refer to a singular object in the plural?
An Exhaust Manifold, like an Intake Manifold, is one piece.

Tell me, do you guys call them 'Muffler Headers', or 'Exhaust Headers'?
To me, the Muffler shop should only deal with the Silencer/Resonator part of our Exhaust systems.
Otherwise, they'd be an Exhaust shop...

nope, manifold is one peice, cast iron, headers are individual tubes welded to a flange.

Fair enough, you got me on that one.
The vast majority of Brits would still refer to performance 'headers' as a Manifold, though.

Just for reference, keep an eye on ebay.de. There was an exhaust manifold for about 300 euros. Unfortunately I've lost a lot of brain cells since school, and my German made up quite a lot of them so I'm not sure what it all said

Robert if you are reading this how did the ceramic coating turn out? I'm considering getting rid of the wrap for this.

I don't blame you! But it sure ain't gona be a cheap ornament! I've just had a convo with Zircotec they do Formula 1 and all sorts apparently and they estimate £300 + Vat + 15% for another colour to be applied over the performance white coating!

F'k me  might just order some fresh wrap I'm thinking it looks better than the ceramic coating anyway.

That's about the going rate and tbh you'd pay nearly the same for a wheel refurb.
Worth it for a minter I think.
White exhausts FTW!
