Just thought I would knock this up as I am sure some of you have come out to this sight i know i have many times![]() You can either buy new (expensive) or you can get hold of a second hand one fitting for new is much easier but with a little patience a used one can be as easy to do First off open bonnet behind the grill you will see this ![]() Easiest way I have found of removing this is to pull on the wee tab in the middle with a pair of pliers (if fitting used try not to loose the wee tab) it should now fall apart and you can lift out the main part of the base as seen below ![]() Used star guide follow this and for new star Ok so you’re as tight as me then take your complete star apart making sure you don’t loose the wee tab What you need to do now is using a pair of screw drivers raise the centre spring as shown below making sure that you have them at 90 degrees to the raised lips on the main part ![]() Now you need to slide the u shaped piece over the top and position the edges in the wee clips on the lips of the main section while having the hook of the spring going through the hole on the u clip this is very time consuming as the screw drivers are likely to slip out Now you need to slip the wee tab through under the hook and release the screwdrivers this puts it all back together as it comes when new. If you find you have lost the wee tab an old key ring works quite well and this can be easier to fit New star Slide the star through the grill and rotate the u shaped section through 90 degrees it should then spring up a hold in place with the grill Close the bonnet and smile you have you target back and you can enjoy looking down the bonnet of your car at a new star sorry about pic quality only had my phone handy |

Thanks for the advice, just had to replace mine as it broke through age, and the guide made it much easier. |
