G plate 2.0 auto. Few questions: 1 Does anyone want a lighter (walnut?) centre piece which surrounds the gearknob? This car has one and I might get it. Couple of minor surface cracks, and one 4mm chip out of it at top corner. Very rare most are zebrano wood. Has fittings for 4 elec windows and is the later one with smaller switch for rear window safety function. It was quite nice I might get it for posterity :D. 2 How do you remove the rear window metal trim? 3 It is champaigne silver, sorry I mean smoke silver, is there such a thing as champaigne silver? It has a 16v boot spoiler. Worth grabbing? Anyone need boot replacing on a champaigne 16v? Was in good nick except for a bent Merc star which someone had tried to prise off evidently. However the spoiler's lacquer was peeled pretty badly. 4 Anyone need any other bits? Rear interior missing, front seats were cream cloth with armrest. Might get window rubbers (bloke wanted some on the forum). Don't have many tools or enthusiasm for big jobs like gearboxes. Could just about stretch to a door if it was worth my while! Wings minor rust under the body side panels. (No gaffer tape evident). Edited by pentoman, Fri Mar 13, 2009 9:20 pm.

Bonnet bonnet... can't remember. but most of the car was good, it had only 97k. However by now might have had people stood on it or screwed it up or something. Gimme your number I'll send you a message tomorrow about it if you like (no internet where I am at the w/end). However I do believe the 16v bonnet is the one part that's different from stock...... Located Gloucester so a bit far away from you eh? |

I can't think what thread it's in, but someone else on here said that the 16v bonnet is different than an 8v bonnet. Can anyone else vouch for this? EDIT: i've just found the answer from an old thread. MTI states that there is an extra reinforcement piece that is welded onto the bottom of the 16v bonnet which is there to reduce flexing (apparantly). I could be wrong in saying this, but this sounds like it would mean that a 16v bonnet would have trouble fitting into an 8v. But an 8v bonnet should fit fine onto a 16v, right? Unless there is another difference in length between the two bonnets? Edited by -V-, Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:27 am.
