Hi, Johnboy Mac- Small correction if I may. The vast majority of Euro 2.3 16v's were 9.7.1. The 2.3 16v with the 10.5.1 compression Ratio is for the 'ICE' Engine only, which is quite rare and mostly found on pre 1986, ie] earlier cars. http://www.w201-16v.de/w201/viewtopic.php?t=1552 These engines had about 10 BHP more and run slightly higher compression pistons and forged rods. Hope the link helps. Regards, The Gorilla. |

The hairy one, how it's going? Interesting point re: 2.3-16, the figures I quoted came from my official Mercedes-Benz European technical manual and no reference to the lower 9.7:1 compression ratio at all, maybe bar (I don't have the manual at hand) a NA market vehicle. Edit: I was always under the impression that the 2.3-16 produced it max torque at 1000rpm lower that the 2.5-16 due to the higher compression of 10.5:1 versa's the 9.7:1 of the 2.5?
