Oh dear. The door handle on the outside has become disconnected. This is caused by a lever sticking in the catch. To make matters worse it sounds like the child lock is on, thus disconnecting the inside handle. I'm afraid the only remedy is to take the door card off. This is not easy with the door shut. I had to do this last week on my 2.0, as it had the same trouble. Its do-able with patience, don't worry. Where are you? If you are by any chance near by I don't mind giving you a hand. btw, If this has just happened you may be able to re-connect the outside handle by shocking it. Try hitting the door hard with the palm of your hand just behind the handle (don't pull the handle as you do this). Don't dent the door though Al |

I can't pop down to Bognor I'm afraid 'bit far from Leeds. With the seats removed it will be easier. Both of my back doors where stuck so I couldn't get the back rest out! (Well, I suppose I could have done but I couldn't be fluffed) Do you know how to get the door card off? The previous owner of my 2.0 didn't and he damaged one of them at the top by trying to lever it up with a screwdriver (bafoon!) Anyway. once the card is off it gets i little fiddly. You have to push up the lever to disengage the child-lock. Which means fishing around with a screwdriver. I have to take a back door card off today to fix an electric window. Would you like me to take some pics illustrating how to do it? (and also where to fish with the screwdriver). Al |

Excellent! ![]() Sorry I was out and about. Too nice a day not to go for a drive. ![]() Now you have the door open, its a good idea to take the door catch mechanism out and give it a good greasing. Make sure the lever that connects with the outside door handle is moving freely on it's spring, otherwise it might happen again ![]() Al |
