I use 'Lucas USA' fluids in all mine, customers and friends cars unless instructed otherwise. I like their products in general. |

Hi I have a 2.6 with auto trans. After replacing a leaking trans hydrolic hose I am now moving on to doing the trans filter and gasket I have already been down to the local auto store and in their books it says that it should use a dx2 grade oil??? which is now very un common according to the guy. Most of the trans oil they sell is dx3. I was wondering if that would work fine in the trans. I'm sure it would be but thought i'd better through it on here and see. |

its ok to use any dexron 2 or 3, just do not overfill it , and set the level with the engine running and in park on flat ground. |

My understanding is that DIII exceeds DII spec which makes it a better oil, its probably just a updated additive package. |

Well worth changing the tranny fluid and you'll notice that the shifts are noticeably smoother. Not cheap though, my garage charged around £150 for this job alone. Apparently gearbox fluid is rather expensive and makes up the bulk of the cost. |

Dexron III ATF was not at all pricey last time I was down at GSF About twenty quid for five litres? £150 for getting your ATF and filter done is a bit of a joke, fella. |

What! Just checked the price online of tranny fluid and you are right 5 litres of Comma Dex 3 is £17.50, the most expensive being around £25. Hmm, looks like I've been done for - unless he used MB branded fluid. I shall inspect my service invoice when I get home. |
