Bonnet star stolen or tampered with!

HI GUYS, This last week ive noticed every morning that I get up and go to my 190 ive found my bonnet star has been tampered with and they have made an attempt to pull the star out and failed each time!! This worry's me because a few years ago I owned a c180 and it had its badge ripped clean out by some scum bag and I had to replace it via a stealership which cost about £15 + vat.

Does anyone have any ideas that I can put in place to my badge in order to put off the hooligans?

So far ive come up with cutting and glueing in some fishing hooks to the inside of the star for when they yank it,

Im not good with electrics but would it be possible to wire up the badge to the battery so when they grab they get a nasty shock?

Any ideas will be appreciated. cheers guys. Darrell

I've had this problem many times there is a site full of ideas but not one you can legaly use or would really stop them from doin more damage to your car ill have a look for it

So basically 2 optioins keep replacing (my choice) or remove and add a blanking plate

Ive thought about an alarm but then I thought id rather just hurt them for abusing my 190!! The car Is litterally parked under a street lamp about 10 metres from my bathroom window down a dead end road with a small lane at the end. Maybe a good air rifle could be a good investment?

If you try something like the shock or the hooks I think you would have to face nasty damages from those people, so you either keep replacing or fit an alarm.

there is a removable type although it does mean putting it somewhere safe every time you leave your car, otherwise you have just made it easier.

I think charl44 has a removable one.

A number of members have reported having them nicked recently including myself - they are now £27 from stealership up from £15 -

there must have been a special on CBEEB'S on the beastie boys!

The only option is to catch the little fuckers in the act - then the choice is your on how to deal!

B)

Checked out the site....anybody know what 92.50 Euro's is in proper money? ^o)

Still sounds alot, but I suppose if you're replacing 3-pointed stars on a regular basis at £27 a shot (Stealership prices apparently) then it would make sense.

I have a theory? :)

You guys getting the star nicked...do you live close to a MB Stealer?..could it be a member of their Parts Department staff drumming up business, do you think?

My fear about you going down the live badge from the battery is the fact that they would be so **insert swear word here**ed off at getting a shock that theyd decide to boot in one of your body panels - which would be worse really.

All of the above are of course compeletly illegal as is my suggestion to hit them over the head with a baseball bat.
You could remove the star and put emblem badge on instead.

You can get a plain disc to slot into the hole , secured underneath .

Replace the emblem when you move.

I'm with Crysak on this one - grind an edge on it (Dremel) and smear it with Ricin or Curare.
