Hi all just got myself a copy of photoshop cs3 extended and am starting to get to grips with it, i can do the basics like removing stuff from pics of the car lke dooor handles and colourcoding stuff and am confident with that and have been turning out some fairly sensible stuff but what i really want to do is change over wheels and add things to pics etc. Would this be something that can be explained on here by someone or is it too complex to explain to a newbie photoshopper? Any help would be cool. Cheers |

I use trial and error but basically, cut the wheel out of the pic you want it from using the circular cut tool (probably the wrong term) Paste it onto a new layer on the original pic and use the free transform to drag it into place and scale it. Then rotate it so the shadows and angle of things like the dish line up correctly with the original pic. You will most likely need to use perspective (transform) to get it perfect but leave that until you have got the hang of the others. Then blur the edges between the original and the layer and use contrast/brightness to make it not stand out. Most important is that layers are your freinds, and save often (in psd format). |

There are always about 5 ways to do anyone thing so generally I would say feel your way and ask as and when you need help. Certain features are hidden. For example, hold the mouse button down on the 'tool' selector and it will give you options for that tool. The magic wand is useful too but get used to all its features, in its basic form its handy, once you are used to it, and the ven diagram options up the top left (in ps7.0) its vital. Oh yeah, and the rubber stamp although if you have blended out door handles you probably know about that. If all else fails, gausian blur out your fckups  (under filters)

the pen tool is your best friend for stuff like this. theres probably hundreds of tutorials online for it. i'll see if i can find you one Kenny, its called the 'elliptical marquee tool'. |

the pen tool read that one, then on the next page it guides you through cutting out an image. and i just learnt about defining custom shapes. I should've known that about 3 years ago really :p |

or if your feeling lazy, you can duplicate your layer then use the eraser in different shapes and sizes to remove what you dont want |

good stuff mate. when you Press "R" in the photoshop,it wil activate the Blur tool.hold the mouse Click on it or Click "shift+R"it will activate the sharpen tool.once more will give you the Smudge tool.that will help you to Cover the unwated Sharpness in the Shoped places. keep in mind almost every tool has more options in the bar under the "File Edit ..... " bar. |

try going to the digimods site, they have a photoshop bible which gives step by step instructions on modding cars, covers everything from full colour changes to turning a hard top into a convertable. Easy to understand too. Where i get my knowledge from. |

its been changed in cs4, there now isn't a keyboard shortcut for blur, smudge and sharpen. R is now "rotate view" its part of the 3d modeling tools. btw, every letter on the keyboard is a shortcut for something. not nessecarily a tool, but actions aswell |

try using different transform modes, >edit >transform then probably try distort, or warp. you'll probably want to make a copy of the number plate before you transform it. it's very likely that'll it'll take a couple of attempts or more. |

you shoul dhave a layers pallette in the bottom right of the screen. if not, go into the window tab and turn on 'layers' (I think the shortcut is F7. not sure tho) |

oh i dunno about kick@ss yet!! lol i have another question, im having a go at colour changes, its on an ice blue car, i have desaturated the picture but when i go adjust and variations the only colour i can get is like a magenta colour, i can change the colour slightly by clicking on for instance 'more blue or more cyan' but i want to change the colour completly. How can i have colours from the pallete? |

always before you desaturate an image try this : image ----adjust---hue\saturation and then adjust as desired |

desaturating an image removes it's Color Properties.it makes the new Colored one looksome how missing something.IMHO. |

try going into the hue/saturation tool... under- Image> adjustments> hue/saturation (ctrl+u) then check the box that says colourize. now just play with the top slider to change the colour. theres loads of different methods to changing colours tho, but they're probably all under the adjustment menu. changing colours is fairly simple. but changing to black or white... thats a bit more complicated |

when you open that window,your mouse Cursor would become a "I really don't know waht that is called" so clicking on any thing on the Screen makes it take it's Color.so i assume yes you can |

if you had a copy of CS4 you'd be laughing right now. you can paint directly onto objects. you can change the colour of a car in literally seconds now |

go to image----adjustment----exposure and play there. try to keep the details of the image even if it is stell not dark.then go to Image----adjustment---Brightness and Contrast.check on the "use legacy" and give it a bit of Contrast.and some Brightness as desired |

under the crop tool in the tool tray. its the same tool as what you get when you move outside that window  say i'm changing the red granada to black. what sort of exposure settings would i need? |
