I think he was based there, yes. Appears to have disappeared. Found an old thread on the subject and it turns out I paid over £60, never fitted it and sold it along with the adhesive to Rupert on here

I need a new sound deadening sheet for my 1984 190E, 2.0l petrol. The current one only covers about 18inches from the windscreen down, mostly only over the fuses and battery, and is flaking away badly. Can I fit this one and extend the coverage? Did MB fit the mini one for a good reason or just to save money?

[/quote]mines only the smaller sound proofing section similar to this - on a late 1993 190, maybe a cost saving maybe MB were running out of parts ?

Thanks, but is there any reason for not using the bigger one? Seems a decent price for one and easy to source while sitting on the sofa ;)

Hi,
There's a thread on this here http://mercedes-190.co.uk/topic/6734514/1/. It didn't make much noise difference to mine though.

It would probably make a greater difference to replace the bulkhead insulation if it's also disintegrating, but that is harder to get to.

Best Regards,
ConorD

Is there a bonnet pad that can be made to fit a 190 that is less prone to disintergration?

It's possible to buy a full length bonnet pad for a W124 and trim it to fit. Rather than being made of foam, it's made of thick felt, which is less likely to disintegrate.

Hello everyone, bought a 190e (gorgeous) but the bonnet insulation is missing, can someone tell me where I can get replacement.
Also, the pad behind the engine/bulkhead is disintegrating, is this different for fire reasons?
Seems difficult to replace but it must be done.
Advise please.

Hi, Just replaced mine with the W124 part. Sadly, the genuine Mercedes part (For W124 - A1246800025) is no longer felt but at least it has the heat shield material over the exhaust manifold area. It takes a bit of trimming all around to fit to the 190E bonnet. I used Bostik Timebond which is supposed to give longer to move into place but by the time you have applied it to the bonnet then the pad it's getting very sticky. And you need to drive with the centre vent closed for a bit as the glue smell is awful.

The genuine one for 190E (Non diesel) is only a small part that covers the part of the bonnet closest to the bulkhead but you can fit the diesel one that covers the whole bonnet.

Here's a picture of mine.
