Morning all. I decided yesterday that I'd fix the cracked glass in the nearside mirror. Simple enough, you might think, but I didn't want to just stick a new piece of glass over the cracked one, so popped the mirror and its mount off. Now, if the power for the heated mirror had been plugged in, then I might have twigged that it had them (I didn't know ... I haven't had her long ) but it wasn't. I only discovered it when I was removing the glass from the plastic mount and realised there was an element (I said element, not elephant, stop sniggering at the back) inside ![]() I'd gone too far to turn back at that point, so cleaned up the plastic, stuck the new non-heated glass on the mount, and popped it back on. So now at some point I'm going to need a new heated glass. ![]() Claiming it as a win anyway though - before I did anything, the mirror only adjusted through one axis and was cracked, if heated. Now it adjusts through both, isn't cracked, but isn't heated. I see it as me being up on the deal. ![]() Moral of the story is - know your car! Oh and, err, does anyone know where I might find a heated mirror .....

Nearly all are heated so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Its only the very early models that arent heated as far as I know. |

I didn't know that! I'm not used to having to look for elements in mirrors, I've had a Nova, a Rover 200 and a Peugeot Partner Van!

Some nasty person nicked the glass out of my wing mirrors when I parked up a few months ago! The cheek of it! No wonder when you look at buying a new one! |

Just the glass'd be good. I could actually use both sides, I didn't notice before but it seems a previous owner has just stuck new glass on top of cracked glass on the offside, too. The housings are fine both sides, just need the actual mirror with its plastic back .... errm .... doobrie which gets plugged in to another hoojamiflip. Technical! |
