I used to think Top Gears style of putting cars on screen was the best, but I have a new favourite now...

That and everything else on Speedhunters.com is awesome. That and Noriyaro.com are my new fave car blogs. Sweeeet...

anyway enjoy the vid!

I am sorry Dave but this is absolute fekkin' garbage, I am so tired of tricky camera work, and flash cut editing, and as for watching motor racing in slow motion...............................

Consign it to the delete bin.

Just watched this in HD, and I partly agree with Jeremy in that nothing of any real note actually happens in the footage.
It's edit-suite masturbation, fairly mundane GT footage dressed up as entertainment.
Fluff.

The other part of me is glad that people continue to develop new visual techniques for presenting motorsport, but the number one priority is CONTENT.
Many of us have sat through F1 races where there have been only a handful of overtakes, no crashes, and 20 or so Safety Car laps.
Doesn't matter if Stanley bloody Kubrick rose from the dead with a camera in his hand and shot it - it was still a sh!te race.
Watched their retro Porsche vid too, and again - no ACTION. A procession of 935s, but no 'moments'.

I watch car shows for this kind of visual escapism, but I watch motorsport for something else entirely.

Longest build time in history?
I do know what you mean Neil and Jeremy, but i have to say Speedhunters do some pretty god advertising type videography but they are always only about a 1m long. They travel all over and do all kinds of things but mainly drifting from what i can tell.

They're talented people but it's not ture racing recording, just trying to make elements look cool. Which is what most people only slightly interested in cars want. I have a feeling with our Mercedes snobbery (You know i'm right to an extent!) we may be a bit more die hard and discerning.

Nail on head, they're chasing commercial work - don't blame them at all.

For me, snobbery doesn't come into it - a race, as far as I'm concerned, is a story.
If the story has no plot, beginning or end, I'm not gripped by it.

Hey Ive watched my fair share of epic rough in car footage with no editing or sound track tweaks, aswell as your professional motorsport coverage on tv etc.. but I just really like these short vids those guys make. For example check out the manji slow mo drift vid, where the guy pendulum drifts all the way up the straight, then circles the camera, and then back off down the track. Pretty cool IMHO. And the super slo mo drag racing clip shows a really interesting take on one of the fastest motorsports on earth.. seeing the tyres warp and flex as they spin, or chassis bending under launch, is pretty cool stuff you'd never see at high speed. Its not meant to be the be all of motorsport coverage, they are just some cool car vid clips.. You could hardly call it rubbish though.. Do the same at home with your camcorder and laptop, I think not :P
PS the folks behind speedhunters are the EA Games Need For Speed crew so its going to have a certain air of video game intro clip to it!

I for one am definitely not criticising the tech skills here, it's nicely done - just questioning the overall composition of these 'shorts', really.
