stupidly i backed into a rock at low speed and it scared my otherwise perfect bodywork. very annoying!

how much would it be fix something like this and make as before? i have had one quote at a local place of 300-350 which sounds alot for a scratch.

the paint is standard 16v blue-black. if you cant see well from the pictures it is about a 5" long of chipped off paint on the corner of the bumper with a few bits chipped out. Would seem to me it would need to be smoothed and a tiny bit of filling and a spray and blending of the bumper and rear O/S wing.

It is minor but noticeable and as i say the rest of the bodywork is 100% and this really lets it down. however i cant see how it costs 350 to fix when there is no dents or dins and paint is normal.

Hard to tell the full extent from the pictures.

If it was just the bumper that was damaged, then I would charge around the £200 mark to repair and repaint, but more if the rear quarter panel was involved.

B)

Locally we have a company called "Chipsaway" (see if you've got one near you)

To do similar correction work on two cladding panels on my 190, they quoted £125, whilst a local body shop quoted £400!

In addition, "Chipsaway" will do it at my convenience on my drive too!

Check your Yellow Pages... :)

Not too sure about those chip removal blokes on the outside it looks fine and for car dealers selling cars they are usually a nice cheap option rather than getting a proper bodyshop repair however they are only really good for small area's I had a guy bring me a 2001 S Class for a service and he had got a dent devild or chips away or someone or another to repair some stone chips on the bonnet oh my god how you could tell the coulor difference obviously they do not blend other panels like a bodyshop would and therfore any repairs in areas that are in proper eye shot look appauling..........

I reckon get a proper shop to price it like Matts and at least you know you will get a proper job.... If you are in Essex I can also get you a qoute via a pal but I reckon you are looking at the same as what Matt roughly qouted :)

unfortunately i am in west wales so none of these places are really close by. I would be prepared to travel to south wales upto cardiff or even up to brizz if there is anywhere that will do a decent job cheaper than local bodyshop with overinflated prices because they mainly do jobs on insurance claims.

TBH mate if they are gonna blend the O/S rear quater then I would say they are charging about right but I am not saying you won't get it done cheaper its just who do you trust to do it if they are reputable and you are not happy at leats there is a good chance they might correct any wrong doing some of the less reputable garages might charge you less but as they say you might get just what you paid....

Up to you though mate........

Its a horrible feeling when you scrape your car and then have to pay to get it repaired I know how you feel.....
