Hi, I recently had a new engine fitted into my 2.5 16v after a cylinder blew on my old one. The car runs fine but takes a good 10mins to warm up before i can drive. When i turn on ignition, i rev at around 2000rpm so as not to flood the engine, after about 5 mins the engine keeps itself running (before that it will cut out). Then I have to let the engine run on its own for another 5mins before i can put it into drive or reverse and start moving. Anytime before this, the engine cuts out as soon as i switch into drive/reverse. There is also a water leak (looks like coolant) from the bottom left area of the engine if your looking underneath from the front and somewhere close to the middle on the drivers side. Would appreciate anyones thoughts on these issues thanks |

I'd certainly start with the cold start valve but I'd also check out the micro-switch at the end of the throttle cable. I've noticed (I have 2X2.3 and 1X2.5) that the 2.5 is fitted with an improved system. Welcome! |

Hi and welcome! "The car runs fine but takes a good 10mins to warm up before i can drive. When i turn on ignition, i rev at around 2000rpm so as not to flood the engine, after about 5 mins the engine keeps itself running (before that it will cut out). " if the engine starts ok, then I would say that your cold start valve is operating ok. If the problem is stalling immediatly after starting, then i would concentrate on "idle speed air valve" and auxiliary air valve" you should also check the "coolant temp sensor" as this is the major imput to the ecu. On cold start up, the ecu receives engine temperature signals from the (cts) and these signals are used to control idle speed and fuel managment (enrich/lean). mazza |
