Hi lads..... Just after start up i get a strong smell of petrol but then goes?? this is on my 2.3... Any ideas wat it is or is it a common thing?? cheers |

leav it running and switch the fan on, if the smell is till coming through you then have a fuel leak, check all fuel lines anyway. Or your car might be running rich on fuel mixture... |

Hi, I assume this is an injection model you are referring to. A few things to check are : It might be the charcoal canister (evaporation control system) lines clogged or perished. these are found in the passenger wheelarch and under the bonnet. Have you checked for external leaks, also in the boot around the petrol tank. It could be a leaking cold start injector if its noticed on startup. The distributor pipework is steel and they are prone to corrosion. |

There is a common fault the fuel regulator goes mine did and i didnt even smell the petrol coming out |
