I have a 1991 190e 2.6 Auto. It always starts fine when cold, but if you are trying to start from warm it isnt easy to start and can often take a few attempts. The problem seems even worse if it is a warm day. So what is the best thing to check first? I imagine it's either flooding or some sort of vapour lock? |

Plugs, leads, dizzy (cap and rotor). Check and renew if needed Then check the air filter. Remove the filter box. Clean out around the AFM plate thingy (carefully). Check and clean all the electrical connections around the throttle body to all the valves and gizmos. Put it all back together, run a tank of Optimax or BP ultimate through it with Redex injector cleaner. That cured the running and hot starting problems on my 2.6. If it is still doing it after that then I'm sure someone will have the answer ![]() btw, make sure the ELZ-kat is set to 's' .It should be there anyway as all unleaded fuel in the U.K (are you in the U.K? ) is 95 RON or over. It is important that the ELZ-kat is set to 'S' Al Edited by algord83, Mon Jul 20, 2009 8:23 pm.
