I am taking the 16v to work every other day just to keep it from sitting about and this morning when i came to the first junction and dropped down and the revs dropped she cut out, this happened at the next junction but by the time i had got to the garage i use for my morning coffee and healthy subway breakfast everything was ok.
Its more of a pain than a real problem, i cleaned tha ovp and checked the micro sw the last time it happened and all semed ok so i suppose i better start over again..bums :D

Ususlly sitting around 9-10 but from cold when you change down they drop to almost zero before bouncing up again and if you don't catch it she cuts out, this only happens for the first 5-10mins after start up after that shes fine.. ^o)

hello there

sounds more like your auxiliary air valve was playing silly buggers. if the valve doesnt open, the idle speed will be too slow for cold starts.

Hi,
I don't know what model or engine you have but have a look at Page 4B.9 in the Haynes,
In effect it is an extra Injector and will probably need 'cleaning out' common problem with age.
Cheers Barrie.

I'll have a look at the weekend, its not a problem when you remember the revs will drop like a stone when you brake and change down cos you can catch it ok but when i don't drive it that much and am use to the beemer you get caught out, she starts and idles ok its just when you take off and then let the revs drop.. ^o)

if its starting ok from cold then the cold start valve is working

im with Mazza on this one

the 2.5 version is bypassed from the case vent pipe to prevent oil enterin git but chances are over time it will still gum up
