Spent the day yesterday cleaning up the arches prior to welding and thought, as I'm going this far with the car I might as well whip the motor and box out. That way I can give the engine bay a right good going over and make it mint, then whilst the engine is on the stand I can send the head off to have it refurb'd and clean it down so the whole thing looks lovely and shiney. I've done quite a few engines in my time, most recently a V8 from a Lotus Esprit Sport350, so I'm not expecting any problems..........but....... any advice on any particular things to look out for would be appreciated before I get cracking. |

As with any iron-blocked engine, it pays to check the core plugs. |

has anybody got any info on the weight of the 2.3 16v engine and getrag gearbox? cast iron block so it's can't be light |

I think the engines about 200lbs say 90kgs , and the gearbox is 80-90lbs say 40kgs . HTH Jeremy
