i want to change my fuel filter on my 2.5-16v. i have the part and have located where it goes but looking at parkers for the generic explanation of how to change the fuel filter and it talks about clamping the fuel hoses with special clamps and NOT to use mole grips as it damages the internals of the pipes. what should i use? do moleys really hurt the pipes that much??? i could wrap it in rags so it does rip in too much....? or tightening an adjustable spanner so it is a straight edge on the pipes? or i was thinking of plugging it with a bolt secured with cable ties. what have other people done? |

if you have mole grips and a couple of sockets big enough to go over the jaws just clamp with those. dont use anything that is not round toclamp with, also you can pick up a hose clamp for around 3to4 pounds from most car spares shops. |

As mentioned above, not much will come out, just catch it in a container. Clamping pipes can cause all kinds of issues in future. |

ok i will just try and catch as much as i can and recycle it back into my 2.5hp outboard! i am suprised it doesnt come gushing out. i know merc/bosch fuel pumps pull well but would of thought they would like a bit of suction pressure from the fuel tank. is it not a sign of gunged up fuel tank strainer if fuel is not coming out fast? anyone had a look or changed their fuel tank strainer? |
