another cutting springs thread. i have heard that its possible to cut the springs without removing them, has anyone attempted this? i am planning to cut 2 coils of my springs this weekend!any tips for me for doing this i would greatly appreciate it. cheers |

i would not recomend this bud... truly....... do not cut corners, or you could cause severe personal injury..... i found this out the hard way. if your going to cut them, take them out...... it is not that hard... there is a sticky thread in the suspension guide, written by shrekky with pictures. |

u can buy a cheap new set of lowered springs at a fraction, try euro car parts, ebay, gsf. dont cut them, It will fook ur ride and handling big time.... |

^^ It all depends which springs you cut.... ![]() I have shortened down springs from an SL500 on my 190E and the last thing the car does is bounce! ![]()

the bounce comes from the dampers not being able to keep up. not the springs. if you shorten your springs you need harder (and sometimes shorter) dampers. do not cut the springs on the car. thats just retarded on so many levels. i personally wouldnt want to be stuck in a wheel arch with a disc spinning at 10000rpm, hot sparks flying in my face, the noise and a spring under load being cut into. |

does anyone know what the drop size is in reducing the spring by one coil or two coils in mm? also can anyone reccomend a good well priced lowering kit, ive come across TA TECHNIX which seems to include springs and shocks. thks |
