When I start the car from cold it does sound a bit "clattery", sounds fine when it is warmed up though.

Not really too worried about it, but what do you think it is that is causing the noise?

Clattery for how long?

Does the noise go away once the oil pressure is up? i.e at 3

If the noise stays on after the oil pressure has gone all the way up and stays that way until warm you may be suffering with the same issue as me 'hydraulic valve lifters' gone sticky...

Let us know exactly what happens with the sound and I guess your first step would be to try a bottle of Wynns lifter treatment followed by an oil & filter change.

Another possible issue (as it was with my car) could be that your Timing Chain & Tensioner need looking at, possibly replacing.
Mine was done at 108,000 miles.

Yep, sounds like the 'Hydros' to me too. but as long as they quieten down when warm or after a blip on the throttle you haven't got a problem. it's normal.

Tappets usually go on sticking and making noise even at full temp.
Having had both jobs (Tappets and Timing Chain) done on my M102 within the past 20,000 miles, I'd exercise caution.
