....this maybe self inflicted but i have changed my distributor cap and rotor arm recently and notice a slight hessitation at constant load and the car just not feeling so tip top (see this post http://s14.zetaboards.com/mercedes_190_club/topic/6577725/1/#new). I got some new plugs and leads on order (denso iridum and magnecor lead) as adivsed and to renew parts of unknown age. looked at the coil as i bought a replacement but it was not the same part but fiddled with the contacts a bit but hopefully didnt damage it. ran and starting fine for a while after checking out the coil.

before the plugs arrived and after not driving the car for a couple of days i tried to start it and it would start. Power and starter turning over strongly but no ignition.

Tried to start it for ages one night and couldnt get anywhere. Tried the next morning and miraculously it fired up. wanted to take it for a long drive to recharge the battery but couldnt as i was late for work so just turned off again after maybe a minute of it starting and sounding normal. Tried to start it again that night and it wouldnt start and have tried since. thought it might be the leads or the king lead so when the new plugs and leads arrived fitted them hoping it will solve it and still nothing. charged the battery so this is still strong but still nothing.

can anyone help me?! might not be ignition system related so what other things should i try????
{EDIT - by the way it is a 2.5-16v and yes i have checked it has petrol!!}

Check that you have fitted the rotor arm correctly, it needs a good hard push till it snaps into place, common fault, poeple think it's home and it isn't.

its in for sure. rechecked it.

have checked for a spark and it sparks so that rules out an electrical problem(??). sprayed in some instant start into the plug hole and it caught but died again instantly. also sprayed some instant start into the cold start valve and it caught very breifly then.
so maybe a fuel problem?? i loosened the big connector (17mm) at the rear right side of the fuel distriubtor and there was fuel there but maybe it is not being pumped into the injectors

i can just hear a relay click when i turn to ignition II no pump wirring sound. i thought the pump sound was pretty loud on these cars but maybe only at idle. where is the fuel pump fuse or relay on these cars to check that?? is it worth checking anything around the actual fuel pump under the car?
